Through their family of apps and services, they are building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together.We are seeking a 3D Technical Artist on a contract basis to help support our Customer's Quantified Wearability (QW) team on a large 3D human data capture project. This position will support the project across the whole pipeline: from data capture to annotation, mesh processing, quality assurance, and visualizations. The 3D technical artist will ideally bring ideas and skills to improve and automate the current workflow from 3D data capture to mesh generation. This position will enable the team to use 3D head scans to inform product design and development.
What You'll Do:
Assist team in data collection where 3D scans, images, and videos are captured
Annotate anthropometric landmarks and measurements using proprietary software
Script helper functions (in C++/Python) to automate data processing
Provide support for 3D mesh generation, reconstruction, and cleaning
Maintain quality of scans in the database, identify errors, and provide remediation steps to the team
Create high and low polygon digital assets
Generate 2D and 3D visualizations to present team projects
Must-Haves:
Expertise with at least 1 of the leading 3D applications (e.g. Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, ZBrush, Houdini) as well as experience with leading image manipulation tools (e.g. Photoshop, After Effects)
Python or C++
Experience working with or capturing 3D scan data
Nice-To-Haves:
Has used Python to create new plugins/tools/workflows for Maya and/or Blender
Basic knowledge of database structures and using SQL for queries
Demonstrated use of motion rigging for animation
Knowledge of motion capture technologies and data processing
Has worked in CAD programs (Solidworks, NX, Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD)
Demonstrated use of procedural generation of mesh and/or textures
Education:
Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Hours & Location:
M-F, 40 hours/week . This role can be 100% Remote, though the hiring manager has a preference for candidates based in Seattle and open to hybrid.
