Job Title Machinist / Tool and Die Maker

Job Purpose
To produce machined components for General Nuclear Corp and its customers by programming, setting up, and operating a manual or computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
Principal (Essential) Duties
1. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, presses etc.
2. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
3. Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
4. Program, set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
5. Calculate speeds and feeds.
Secondary Duties
1. Design fixtures, tooling, and parts to meet special machining needs.
2. Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance and/or configurations.
3. Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
4. Maintain and repair equipment and machines

6. Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals as well as the ability to read, understand, and perform instructions.
7. Basic understanding of metal cutting machines.
Experience/Education Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. United States citizen
3. Machining skills including ability to use:
a. G-Code programing
b. Scientific calculator
c. Trigonometry
4. Ability to work 40 hours per week required with occasional overtime required
5. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle required
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
1. Physical work – exert up to 70 pounds of force occasionally and/or a minimal amount of force (<20 pounds) frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull orotherwise move objects.
2. See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
3. Able to operate standard machining equipment.
