West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Cottrell Center within the College of Business and Public Management invites applicants for the position of Project Coordinator (Clerical Assistant 2). This is a part-time (20 hours per week) one-year assignment. The hours are Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 4:30 PM.

The Cottrell Entrepreneurship Center fosters entrepreneurship across West Chester University and throughout Chester County by preparing students to contribute to the entrepreneurship ecosystem, providing access to a rich network of entrepreneurship resources and enhancing the startup and growth of new ventures to develop a strong WCU entrepreneurship culture and a vibrant Chester County entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Reporting to the Director of The Cottrell Center, the Project Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support for the Center and internal and external university business partners including students, faculty, and staff.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in coordinating complex projects and events; excellent customer service skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities, a commitment to student success and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse population.

Responsibilities include:


  • Receiving and announcing visitors
  • Answering incoming calls
  • Maintaining email accounts and responding to general inquiries
  • Assisting students, faculty and staff with questions related to Cottrell Center programs and services
  • Assisting the coordination of events including the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Women’s Entrepreneurship Conference, Business Idea Competition, Social Innovation Competition, and Accelerator
  • Organizing and maintaining the schedules
  • Supporting monthly newsletter
  • Maintaining email lists and databases
  • Assisting with social media and promotion of programs and events

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six months as a Clerk 1 and educational development to the level of the eighth grade OR
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum OR
  • Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledge and abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Proficiency in standard office procedures and practices
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to independently prioritize task completion and to adapt to changes in priorities or turn around as needed
  • Ability to compose straightforward, informational correspondence and to carefully proofread one’s own and other’s written materials
  • Strong organizational skills including creating and maintaining logical organization of electronic files and folders
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to maintain accurate records/notes
  • A willingness and ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all university requirements with respect to the handling of confidential student and personnel information is essential
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and good working relationships with all department staff, students, and visitors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in coordinating complex projects and events
  • Experience with research and sourcing
  • Basic knowledge of social media marketing
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience working with or for a small business or start up
