TITLE: Homebound Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal of the school the student is enrolled in
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Valid Arizona teaching certificate
- Certain endorsement(s) and/or approved content areas may be required for certain positions
- Must be a current employee of BESD
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The homebound teacher is responsible for providing the educational services to students who have been medically designated as unable to attend school.- The homebound teacher shall maintain and adhere to the qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and duties and responsibilities of the regular teacher job description.
- The homebound teacher is required to document all instruction times and activities and get this signed off by the site principal.
- These educational services are provided outside of normal contract times (a total of 4 hours each week - 3 hours of instruction and 1 hour of preparation)
- The schedule and method of delivery of educational services shall be mutually agreed upon between the student’s guardian(s) and the teacher. These services can be provided in-person or virtually; however, services must be provided synchronously.
- Other duties include: maintaining a gradebook, reporting grades to the school the student is officially enrolled in, keeping a log of parent contact, and proctoring state and district assessments as necessary.
